Upcoming Kiwisaver Changes for 16 & 17 year old

Upcoming Kiwisaver Changes for 16 & 17 year old

From 1 April 2026, Inland Revenue will require employers to make KiwiSaver contributions for employees aged 16 and 17, who are already enrolled in KiwiSaver.

To prepare for this, we need organisations to enter a Date of Birth for all employees under 18 years old, that your organisation is currently deducting KSE (Kiwisaver Employee) or contributing KSR (Kiwisaver Employer).

To find these employees in iPayroll:

1. Go to Reports > HR > Click on the Staff – Detailed Table report.

2. Click on the Download Excel Button

3. Open this report in Excel and Ctrl F to to find the Kiwisaver Age Range column, delete all rows that don't include Under 18

4. Then, click on Ctlr F to find the KSE Rate column. You should see the KSE Rate and KSR Rate columns.

5. Any Employees that have KSE and / or KSR more than 0, will need to have the Date of Birth added in the Personal Details.

6. To do this, please go to People > View People > Click on the Employee > Add the Date of Birth > Click the Save button.
