Unauthorised Delegation for PAYE Intermediary Clients

Unauthorised Delegation for PAYE Intermediary Clients

This article is for customers that iPayroll manages the tax for and have received an Unauthorised Delegation error when a payday file has been submitted.
iPayroll is updated daily with payday file statuses from the IR.
Once third party access is provided, you will then see the updated statuses in the Tax > Payday Filing History report. It may take up to a day for the payday file statuses to initially update once you have provided third party access.
If you manage your own tax, see the Unauthorised Delegation error Manage Own Tax

If you see a  4 : Unauthorised Delegation error for a payday file in the Tax > Payday Filing History report, this is because either:
  • You are a new customer to iPayroll, and your business is not yet linked to iPayroll as your PAYE Intermediary. You do not need to do anything. Once iPayroll has linked your business to our PAYE Intermediary Service, the status of your payday files will be updated.
  • You are an existing customer of iPayroll and iPayroll manages your tax. iPayroll does not have permission to retrieve any updates from the Inland Revenue (IR) about the payday files we have submitted on your behalf. Your myIR owner needs to allow third party access in myIR.

Allow Third Party Access in myIR

The person who can perform this instruction must be the myIR owner, as only the myIR owner can manage third party access in myIR.
  1. Log into myIR.
  2. Select > Manage my profile
  3. Select > I want to...
  4. Select > Manage third party access
  5. Select > Yes to allow third party access
