New Sick Leave Entitlement 10 days per year - July 2021

New Sick Leave Entitlement 10 days per year - July 2021

New Legislation Sick Leave 10 days per year

Parliament has passed the Holidays (Increasing Sick Leave) Amendment Bill to increase the minimum employee sick leave entitlement from 5 days to 10 days per year.
From 24 July 2021 any employee reaching a sick leave anniversary (either the 6 months after they started employment or their yearly anniversary) will receive 10 days.
Employees who already get 10 or more sick days on their 6 months or their yearly anniversary will not be affected by this change.

SICK-ENT - iPayroll Standard Pay Element

If you are using the standard SICK-ENT pay element in iPayroll, it will be increased to 10 days on the night of Friday 23 July, any payroll after this will automatically give the new entitlement.

You don't need to do anything but check your set up.

Review your Special or Non Standard Pay Elements

Active Special Pay Elements set up in your payroll (any Leave element that has been created with different rules to the Holidays Act) will need to be checked for compliance.

In iPayroll

  1. Review your Leave Balances
  2. Reports > Leave Balances > select Sick Leave
  3. Download or Print
  4. Review your Leave Entitlement Rules
  5. Setup > Pay Elements > Leave > Entitlement Only

  7. Reports > HR > Timesheet Templates > tick Show Leave Entitlements > Go
  8. Download or Print
